My New Boots

I washed this skirt, and all the little pleats disappeared... dagnabbit! But I'll still wear it. Cause I love the colors.

Cowboy Boots

I can't tell you how happy I am to get to wear cowboy boots again. They aren't just fun... they are my most comfortable footwear. This particular pair has a rubber heel cap that makes me feel like I'm bouncing.

Ranch hazards

Now that it is over, I can share the latest hazard. Don and I were on the southwest corner of the Rafter H, at a windmill. I was looking at Don and walking around the tank, talking. I took my eyes off Don and turned my head, just in time for my teeth to whack into a fill pipe to the water tank. It only hit the bridgework that has been solid in place since 1984, but I heard it snap off. I tried to be careful and hope it would magically reset itself, but it didn't last past Fort Sumner. I went in today and had it recemented for $120. I hope it will last another 26 years, but the dentist said ,"not if you walk into another pipe, that will be $3600, because we'll have to widen the thing....." which is true, I will just watch it when I'm jousting windmills!

Ain't no oil getting over here!

Among other things in the past two weeks, we went looking for remote areas and things we had missed. The Aransas Game refuge was the last place before the serious babysitting began!

No oil on me in this part of the gulf!

Ranch shots

End of the rainbow--El Yeso Ranch

Left to right--Jerry Shelton, Judy Vance Crume, Jeanine Ross Null, Lyndell Baker Hood, Rafanita Overton Forman, Gary Trainer, Rosalie Patrick, Janet Slaten Occhialini, Glenn Ezell. (Fostelene Talley Halcom must have been taking the picture).

Friends got together at El Yeso Ranch for a couple of days of catching up on forty odd years. One day included the gathering up of some more classmates and their spouses for a wonderful lunch of black angus hamburgers and fruit salads. No matter where in the world we all scatter, Thomas Hardy was wrong, You CAN go home again. With nothing to prove, we just basked in the friendliness of the time and slept well that night. Perfect.

When your calm Sunday afternoon winds up like this, you thank the Lord he is with you and taking care of you! We lost our "hoop-de" (kids name for it) but we walked away in good shape for the shape we are in, so you can't say we weren't protected!

My guys, sitting on the front porch. Sam loves being outside more than anything! He also loves feeding the birds, and knows just how that is done!

Spring break we spent in Waco, visiting Jill and her family. It has to be said that the Cameron Park Zoo is way above par for a Zoo. We took about 55 pictures that day!
The Mayborne and the dig site were interesting--I want to get out to Glenrose on one of these trips, but Northern NM has some huge tracks I want to go back to--I found some when I was 12 years old, and could not convince Dad to come and look........vindicated at last!

This is my Tommy--Jill says that everybody has to have a Tommy in their life--this one is mine. I found him at the photo lab counter ages ago, did special work on his pictures, then we went to his Thanksgiving EVENT in 1997, the rest is history....He is the real deal, Col. Martindale is!

Keeping up eventually......

We all went to the Stockyards Christmas day and spent three days hanging around with the Martindales--our friends from North Carolina. This photo would go in the, "does this bronze critter make our butts look big--" It's just a thing we do....more to come on that score. We bought more boots and had a great time!!!
